Helping Hands Team Building Activity
Helping Hands Team Building Activity
It may be surprising for some how difficult it is to do daily activities for amputees. Amputees are at a disadvantage considering that they are missing some limbs. If you will come to think of it, a lot of amputees will not be able to afford expensive prosthetics which can impact the opportunities and the things they can do in the future.
According to numbers, in the United States alone, around 2 million people are with amputations. It can come from different situations. Some came from illness while others from accidents. The average cost of prosthetic limbs in the US can be around $5,000 to $50,000. And considering this cost, those who are found in third world countries are even facing a tougher situation at this point.
There are in fact 300,000 landmine-related amputees in third world countries today. These amputees came from countries such as Cambodia that experienced brutal civil war and a great number of undetonated landmines in different parts of the country. Unfortunately, 20% of those who are affected are children. Cambodia alone has around 50,000 cases of landmine-related amputees according to UN statistics.
Every prosthetic that is sent towards a poor community can already create ripple effects of opportunities for a lot of people. But of course, buying prosthetics from companies can be an expensive endeavor. Now, why don’t you make one from scratch? In reality, this is not as complicated as you might think it is. There are a lot of companies and organizations that have tried out going for Helping Hands Program.
This team building activity offers something different when it comes to improving overall dynamics in an organization. It is not your average team building activity. What Helping Hand Team Building offers is the chance to make someone’s life better.
How Can Your Organization Help?
Team XL has partnered with the Helping Hands Program. The aim of this group is to deliver prosthetics to areas in Australia as well as in South East Asia. By choosing to conduct your team building activity in Helping Hands Program, not only do you get to spend your energy doing things that can make a huge difference in other people’s lives, but it can also involve enjoyable activities.
The participants are given the necessary briefing and opportunity to build their own artificial hands. These artificial hands will then be donated to patients who suffered from injuries sustained from a landmine.
The Helping Hands Program structured activities will allow your team to have different roles when it comes to making the prosthetic. This can help foster not only cooperation within the team, but it also gives them a sense of purpose to work on. This type of activity has been known for years as a maximum impact, maximum engagement type of activity that is suggested to organizations from different industries.
After the activity, the team will then be debriefed. Here, they can reflect in order to maximize the outcome of the team building activity. And not only that, you will also be able to realize the impact that Helping Hands Program can deliver to children.
